Tamara is a licensed clinical professional counselor with over 15 years of experience specializing in children, adolescent, and family therapy. She began her career in 2005 in community mental health, working as a case manager and child and family therapist, where she gained valuable experience facilitating SED Waiver cases, providing case management, and providing therapeutic services. She earned her degree in Human Development and Family Life from The University of Kansas in 2004 and a Master’s in Counseling Psychology in 2009.
In 2016, Tamara transitioned to private practice, focusing on children, adolescents, and young adults with a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD, and behavioral issues. She is known for her holistic, integrated approach, which emphasizes collaboration with caregivers to teach effective parenting techniques and improve family communication while maintaining the child’s privacy.
An advocate for comprehensive care, Tamara has extensive experience coordinating and collaborating with school systems to strengthen therapeutic outcomes for her clients. She is also recognized for her commitment to excellence, earning a place in the top five of Best of Lawrence since 2019.
In 2024, she expanded her role by leading the Child and Family therapy program in a community mental health setting, continuing to serve and educate the community in her work.
Tamara will meet with your child and legal caregiver to determine treatment goals and appropriate services for the diagnosis your child is struggling with. She works with children, adolescents and young adults ages 5-25 and offers Saturday and evening appointments.
